i would like to create a social site for recipes and homestylecooking for a certain crowd.
now i want to be the only person running this example are i do not want any register user on this social site to be able to create groups, events or anything except for follow others, upload pics comments etc.. and have fun,
We want to be able to create groups and add users to it, create events so everyone can see them
Basically we want to run the site and not run by the people,
We just want the people to be able to post, comment share, and have fun but not take control and run their own things until we allow them.
Now another question is can we ban users based on their ip that way they cant re-create another account with another name or email.

Yes, it's possible to lock event and group creation for regular users - with multiprofiles.
Members will be allowed to post statuses, like, share and comment them. upload photos and post videos etc.
Members will be able to adjust their profiles - upload avatar and cover.
To ban user basing on IP you'll need additional Joomla! plugin - but there many free plugins in JED.
