I have some questions about JomSocial to see if it fits my needs.
Quick Background
I have a company that is going to host competitions in writing, audio, video and graphics. I need to be able to upload competitions in that displays as individual pages. Meaning competitions can be found using the search tool. My company page will revolve around competitions and it's entries. I want entries to display in competition pages and a copy to be uploaded to member portfolios (individual portfolios for each member as per entry uploads in competitions).
1. Do you think the features in JomSocial can facilitate competitions and profile pages the way described? I am open to custom change code if needed.
2. Is it possible to have a summary box on profile pages? About me text...
3. I want friends to be able to chat and non-friends to only send messages. Is this possible?
4. Is it possible to have members set keywords for their profiles? "Php skills" "writing skills" etc?
5. Is JomSocial more robust for my project than EasySocial or CB?
1. File sharing is possible only in group discussions and announcements.
but with some customizations you'll be able to display them also on Profiles.
2. Yes, just add a text field in profile fields.
3. There is no chat feature out-of-the-box. This can be added using 3rd party extension. If you'll have skilled developer then he'll be able to allow chat to be friends only. in JomSocial you may set that only friends are able to post on profile pages... but non-friends may send PMs.
4. All profile field values may be searchable (set by default) so they can be considered as "keywords".
5. You may test it yourself here demo.jomsocial.com. JS have more features than CB or EasySocial ;) And can be customized with ease.

- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.

- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
