Hello!! Is it possibile to subscribe a lifetime subscription instead of a duration of only six months? Nowadays many developers for Joomla offers a lifetime subscription for their products!! A limited renewal (6 months) subscription can be too much expensive in the mid or long term: isn'it? Make sure it is so: I have paid renewal of Jomsocial subscription for years! :-( I think that a lifetime subscription (even if only for one year) would allow you to keep you users (otherwise they will search for more cheaper products with a lifetime subscription!).

I would appreciate so much if you offer me a lifetime subscription!! :-)

Thanks,

Luca

HI, Luca.

I'm sorry but our current business model doesn't offer "lifetime subscription".
Try to look on this from other perspective - you DON'T have to renew if you don't wont it... you may do this at any moment you want it or need it. It's up to you.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Sorry, but there are no advantages in the current type of subscription respect to the "lifetime subscription". In fact If I had a "lifetime subscription" I should pay one time and not every 6 months or every year (like now I have to do) !! This means that with a lifetime subscription I shouldn't renew anything and I will save a lot of money ! :-(

Let me know,

Thanks,

Hi, Luca.

You see only your own perspective, what is fine... but let us see our own.
JomSocial is a complex extension and we constantly work on it. It's in constant developing.
It's not a pair of shoes that ware made once for all and won't change.
Developing JS is a process and extension evolves with every year.

In a fact if you purchase JomSocial you may use it lifetime. You don't have to upgrade or pay for using it.
So this would be a lifetime purchase...

But purchase once and have lifetime access to upgrades, fixes, new version and support?
This would be like paying in restaurant once and asking them to serve you lifetime :D

Hi,
sorry but your example of the restaurant doesn't work in this case... In fact you offer only one software product for ALL the users and we are talking about a software not about foods (that you have to buy every time to serve a customer)! I mean: you work "once" to develop/update/fix your Joomla extension to satisfy ALL the users. This means the cost of developing, updating or bug fixing a software product are well compensated from the number od the users that have bought your extension :-) This is the reason why other developers (see for example JoomlaXTC: www.joomlaxtc.com/club-memberships ) offer Lifetime memberships! And consider that this developers offer also high discount in some periods of the year (like Christmas for example) to attract new customers. For example recently I have bought a lifetime subscription of a Joomla extension that I bought for the first time some years ago with an 80% discount on the full-price! Obviously you can decide what your e-commerce policy is but also you have to be responsible for it because your customer (like me) could decide not to renew your subscription and choose another similar extension with lifetime subscription (more cheaper in the mid-long term)! ;)
So you should ask yourself: is more convenient to lose a customer or offer him a lifetime subscription considering that you have to update/bug fix your product not specifically for that customer but for ALL you customers?

Best regards,

Luca

Hi, Luca.

Well, some developers offer lifetime subscription , other don't.
I already said that our current business model doesn't offer lifetime subscription.
Also that you don't have to upgrade if you don't want to.
I used food restaurant parallel to show that your request is rather strange.
Yes, we provide fixes and updates for all customers but support is for every particular user. So costs are not compensated.

But this is not a Technical Support issue. If you have suggestions regarding our business model - you can contact Paul our COO directly by sending an email to paul.smith AT ijoomla DOT com He would be happy to discuss it further if thats what you wish.
