I want to start a website which has blogging , following, posting and inbox messaging. Along with that, I want to add a segment for education. Is it Possible with jomsocial? and how much would it cost?

Sure it would be possible :) Joomla! is a great CMS with a lot of extension so you may build a really complex site.
You may use JomSocial for all community matters like activity posts, photos, groups, events, internal communication, befriending and so on.
For blog you may use default Joomla! feature from com_content (default articles).... or use some of 3rd party extensions like e.g EasyBlog.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
