Greetings,
I am sorry to contact technical support this way, but at this point, its the only way I am able to reach anyone that I hope can help with this issue. I am using the most current version of JomSocial, not the new Beta version, the last released version. I purched this and got 6 month technical support from you all and have used it frequently with great success. However, about 5 months ago, when I was setting up my site, www.madd-talent.com , I was loading my group avatars and every time I would upload a new avatar to that groups page, I would get a 500 Error from my server. I addressed this issued 5 months ago with my hosting provider, Hostgator, and they told me that this is a file or document permission settings issue. They told me how to do a quick fix by setting the numbers on the given file or image back to the appropriate numbers and then save the settings, reload the page and it would work again.
I did this 32 times for each of my NFL team Avatars on my sports social media site. Everytime I uploaded a new Avatar for a new team, I would need to repeat these steps again to get the site functioning properly again. 32 times later, I had all my NFL avatars loaded and working and looking good. Well now I am doing the NBA teams and the same issue is happening again. I tried this same fix, but its not working and this may be my fault as I am not selecting the correct folder or file to re-set the permissions or I am setting the permissions to the wrong numbers. Either way, this should not be happening at all. According to Hostgator ,there is a bug in the JomSocial application that does not allow me as the administrator or my members to upload a new avatar without messing up these permissions and this needs to be addressed by you all at JomSocial please.
Now here is the problem. My tech support recently ran out so I can't enter a ticket. This is a problem for me as this is not a typical technical support issue with some fancy thing that I want to do with my website. This is something I paid for when I purchased JomSocail and should be looked at with or without a technical support license. I plan to purchase the new beta version of JomSocial tomorrow when I get paid. I even got a price savings code from JomSocial to do this as this is my 3 license renewal and I can only guess that JomSocial thinks I am a valued customer and I appreciate that. However, I don't want to purchase this new license for the new version when the last one is not working properly. Again, I am sorry to address this long message to the pre-sales department, but I have no way of reaching anyone that can help me. Please see if someone can contact me and look into this.
The problem is simple I think, but I have no clue what is doing this. When I upload an avatar to a groups page, or any image for that matter, my site locks up and gives me a 500 series error message. Please see if you can look into this as I have members that are getting upset and I have no way to help them. If you need permission to the back end of my site or my C-Panel to look into this, please just contact me and I will happily provide it.

Thanks,

David Martin

Pual,
Nice to hear from you again. In case it matters, I love what you all have done with JomSocial 4. I know I have issues, but in life, regardless of what you do, you always have some issues somewhere.
None the less,
Thank you Paul,

David
