Trying to get a blueprint/plan to give Joomla site community features

Hello Paul,

I had contact with you roughly 24 hours ago regarding signup to the forum and the question outlined above in the subject space. I looked at some third party apps, but very few of them seem to handle the registration process. A question I now have is can the Joomla core be adapted to handling public registrations? Could it handle logins with username/password info from sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus, as well as process new registrations from those who don't want to sign in from these popular sites? And would it then be able to designate the new registrations as members and allow them privileges to access forums, photo galleries, chat, file sharing and whatever else?

I am also consulting with the hosting platform that I have recently moved to which is SiteGround. They have recommended JomSocial as being the provider that best works with their hosting setup. But answers to these questions seem hard to come by. I appreciate all you can help me with.

Regards,

Paul Mitchell
