I'm thinking about creating a community site with JomSocial. One feature I'd like to have on the site is a possibility to facilitate sharing things such as tools, toys or books. Some community members own things, others borrow them. So there should be a list of things owned on each members personal page, and a remark next to each thing which other member currently has it.

This is probably asking a bit much of a social extension, but maybe you have an idea whether or how this could be achieved with JomSocial (+ plugin?).

With Jomsocial as a standard install you can create custom profile fields but it is not going to do what you are wanting, There is a few extensions that are very good that interface with Jomsocial

1. Profile types www.readybytes.net/jomsocial-profile-type.html
2, The same company also has a payment system as will i think
Maybe search for jomsical profile types in google and see if a 3rd party component will complete what you are wanting to do

Thanks for your quick reply. I had a look at Profile Types. I'm not sure it will help, although custom fields may be useful. I don't need a payment system.

What I need is basically pretty simple: just a two column table for each member:

... ideally broken down into categories.

I'll have a look at 3rd party components and report back if I find anything.

I browsed the JED and the best I found was a classifieds extension:

Not exactly what I need, but maybe I can adjust it. What I'd really like is a table into which users could type directly.
