Hi!
You have a really clean design and a very good system... did you ever consider of adding the feature, that you can add friends from other jomsocial sites? For me this would be the dealbreaker and Jomsocial could be a growing competitor forf facebook. But without this, it will stay a community app for small communities. Maybe this is also the intentions, but its too bad...since there is no other competitor who is as good as joomsocial -diaspora and friendica suck.
Jomsocial doesn't offer this feature, but i do like your idea. Because it relies on the joomla user table it would mean that the user databases would need to be in sync. so it would be a big job to write that
thank you for your reply. I'm not a professional programmer, so my thoughts might be naiv...but I could imagine two solutions to this problem:
1. Jomsocial has a centralized database with usernames and the correspondant Website, which would allow searching people between different sites and might even allow Jomsocial to take subscription fees of admins/see if sites use the software legally.
2. One needs to know the site and username of a person to get in touch with him. The "only" things which would have been to be implemented is a jomsocial module, which store username/sitename of connected members with other sites and which checks if people are eligable to view status updates of connected people and show them in the feed.
Anyway, as I said, the way joomsocial is right now, its great for small community sites. But to really use it for communicating with friends all over the world and people you care about its not functional.
