We are a start up company. We have a commissioned a web developing agency to create a website for us.
They have created a website for us with JomSocial. They say that they have a developer's licence and there is no need for us to have a licence with JomSocial and that they have downloaded it on our website and it is free and legal for us to use. Is this correct?
They said they have downloaded and installed it on many websites developed for other organisations and this is not a problem.
Can you tell me if this is correct or would we need a separate licence for JomSocial?
You can install Jomsocial on as many web sites as you wish. But if you want to download the product or get support then you must have an active license. so what they are telling you is correct.
FYI if you decide to no longer use that web developer and you need support then you will need to purchase a license. Each support licence is only for one website
