Hello

I am formulating a multi-vendor Virtuemart site. The multi-vendor component I'll be using (VMvendor) has JomSocial integration. I am contemplating using JomSocial for vendor profiles and have a couple of questions.

1. I know that JomSocial is a fully featured Joomla social extension. While I'm sure its full range of social features will come in handy in the future, initially all I need it for is it's profile functionality. Can you tell me to what extent JomSocials social functionality can be disabled?

2. I need to have a paginated page listing every JomSocial member, preferably by their profile type. Can you tell me if this is possible?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Joe,

You would need to customize Jomsocial to do what you are wanting that is not something that can be done out of the box. you can lock down privacy to defaults but users can then override them in their profile. Also all the features are still available by direct urls so unless you secure each page you want hidden it could be viewed but entering the direct url

Hi Paul.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I get what you're saying. I don't need things to be totally locked down (with pages secured). All I need to do is visually remove certain functionality.

You said that users can change their privacy settings. Would I be able to remove this switch using template overrides? Again, this is just to remove the appearance of this functionality.

Also, does Jomsocial have a module or menu link to display all publicly viewable Jomsocial users?

Thanks once again for your time.

Regards,

Joe

Hi Joseph,

Yes you can easily hide menus and things using overrides in jomsocial, this is not something that is covered by support though, so unless you are familiar with finding the code and changing it our support staff cannot make custom changes for you

i don't mean we wont help when we can or point you in the right direction but we don't get involved with site customization :)
