i've some question about jomsocial development:

1. Is it possible to change the maximum number of characters in a new post? If necessary, can I create a new type of post with a different limit?
2. Is it possible to create classified ads posts (to search/offer items or professionals)? Can I include in a statistics screen the number of ads?
3. In addition to the personal message board and to the general one, is it possibile to have a message board with a list of posts published only by user’s friends?
4. Is it possible to send recommendations to other users? Can I integrate in a statistics screen the number of recommendations?
5. Is there a search engine that allows looking for people by name?
6. Is there a service of periodic notifications via email to notify people about the activities of their profiles and friends?

You can change the number of characters in the post box but this is a global change the applies site wide
We have a separate advertising component called Ad Agency which will manage site advertising please have a look at this link adagency.ijoomla.com/
Recommendations is not possible but you can show adds to users based on their profile if you are using Ad Agency and Jomsocial
In jomsocial you can search for people as long as you have those fields set as searchable
Notifications are send similar to how facebook works when user posts on the stream

A way to make things look like they are integrated into jomsocial is you can use any joomla modules and place them in the users profile page. or around the site in different spots. For example you could use js_profile_mine_top as a joomla module position and place a linkedin module in that position extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-...ce/linkedin-profiles the module will only show in the profile page of the logged in user, if you view someone else's profile it wont show up

This lets you add anything available for joomla into the site or jomsocial internal pages
