I've noticed that the complete site is having SEF urls but in the search results page of:
Advanced search
Group Search
Friend Search
Event Search

After the sef url, non sef url is appended

Actually my membership is expired and i'm using old jomsocial 2 series, and in it also the same issue is there. (whether sh404 or native joomla sef used)

I'm a subscriber of Sh404 sef and they have said that this is because Jomsocial is using "Get" method. Can you please do let me know teh work around.

I'm planning to upgrade/renew if this issue can be solved. ( I dont want my vistors to know the variable like com_community, view=groups, task=search etc..)

Yes i'm aware that this is a presales forum, but as you know that my subscription has expired, (I'm still using Old 2 series).

I dont mind renewing my subscription, if support will be provided for 2 series jomsocial, i just received an mail for renewal with promo code only49. But before i renew i need to be guaranteed of above issue resolution (sef urls in search results).

I don't want to upgrade to j3.2 series as i don't want to load extra bootstrap and other js/css on my site yet.

I have asked your question to our developers and this is their reply.

in search url we have search query
it will never be SEF as no robots perform search on sites
Search query in url allows the user to track what was searched and with what parameters
If you do a search on google you will see the same results
This is working as designed and there is nothing we would be doing to modify this URL string

I understand your point, but the robots indexing is not the only point of making sef urls, they should also look pretty, clean and human readable, without disclosing the underlying components called. And moreover search query is " search.html?search=SEARCH " this can remain in the url. Only option= , view= , task= , & itemID= should be stripped from the URL.

Example on your demo site

demo.jomsocial.com/groups/search.html?search= SEARCH_TERM&1da1a4291f0d435ec71fcd18d53e7d30=1&option=com_community&view=groups&task=search&Itemid=121

ideally should look like:

demo.jomsocial.com/groups/search.html?search= SEARCH_TERM&1da1a4291f0d435ec71fcd18d53e7d30=1

Try logging into jomsocial demo site and give a search (as the above random numbers are session based i think) and on the results page your will find the suffix on the url as " &option=com_community&view=groups&task=search&Itemid=121 "
just delete this suffix url and press enter, It will still work. So i don't see the need in adding the long suffix.

This is the way it works in most of the joomla components even in easysocial or even core joomla search with sef
eg try this out:
extensions.joomla.org/search?q= Search_Term
or
joomla25.cloudaccess.net/using-joomla/ex...rch.html?searchword= Search_Term&searchphrase=all

Both of the above are not suffixing any com_**** or view=**** or task=**** or Itemid=****

This is something that we would log as an improvement and not a bug. I would be unable to give you a time frame regarding when this may be changed if at all.

Atleast you have acknowledged that this is an issue, which needs addressing.
In my view this is definately a bug, its like having a bulls eye mark or a big mole on our forehead! (Pun Intended)

Please update this thread whenever this is resolved so that i can come back and renew for getting support.
