Hello there.

I would like to setup a community and basically we have 3 usergroups: Freemember, Goldmember and Special Members.
The Gold and Special Members have access to everything in our community and the Freemembers are restricted. Currently we are using CommunityBuilder but there are some issues with the update to 3.3.0 and so I have to make a plan.

Does Joomsocial support these restrictions? Can I setup rules that new users will be added to Freemember and once they made their membership payment they will be added to the respective groups and full access to our platform? Once the membership expired they will be removed from that group and have the restrictions.

Does this work?

Is Joomsocial able to work with Akeeba Subscription or do you have a similar addon?

Can I import the database from CB to JS?

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Out of the box, Jomsocial doesn't have paid subs or user types by subscription levels. However there are a lot of add ons that do this fine . This is one example www.jomsocial.com/addons/memberships/jom...p-and-access-control but there are many more here www.jomsocial.com/addons/memberships

From what i know of akeeba subscriptions is that is is ACL based and until jomsocial 3.4 our product isn't

Hi Paul,

thank you for your response.
Without being mean, but why should I invest hundreds of USD for this plugin when it does not support these things?
I have to pay you and the other developers from a no budget project.

The only plugin for the membership topic which is for free does not work with the current version.

What about the Community Builder issue? Am I able to import the CB-Users and their profiles?

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

We have only Just released a new version of Jomsocial and some component providers have not brought their components up to date with this version. Unfortunately all 3rd party components are out of our control, what they do and the price they charge is something i can't comment on.

Like any component if it is unable to work as you would like, it would need to be customized by either a 3rd party add on, or by a developer. While paid memberships and profile types is a great feature it is not part of Jomsocial at the moment.

Regarding the community builder import, there is no import feature. Jomsocial uses the Joomla user table but moving / migrating from community builder is not something our product does either. I notice that you mention you have a "no budjet project" which i understand but to add in memberships and profile types will be at a cost. It is not something you can do as a default install with Jomsocial

I understand this is not the answer you are looking for but i am unable to change what features jomsocial currently has in it.
