Hi,

I'm considering going with Instant JomSocial and most of what I see, I really like.

However, I would prefer a more standard Kunena-style forum interface in each Group's Discussion page, preferrably with the ability for comments to be able to formatted just like top post can be edited/commented.

Is there a way to do this in JomSocial?

Thank you.

Thank you for answering my question.

Is there a different template that can provide a standard Kunena interface within each Group Discussion area, is it simply not possible with JomSocial at this time?

Hi, Pritam.

Kunena is a forum board. JomSocial discussions are comment-like. So they work in different way.

A skilled developer could customize look of JomSocial discussions so they will look enough close to Kunena forum thread list but there is no ready-made template for do this.

Also, to achieve it you'll need FTP access to edit and upload customized files. At the moment in Instant JomSocial service FT access is suspended.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

I've been thinking about this and I have a new question to try and work around it. I understand that a Forum is different from the JomSocial "Discussions", which is more like a blog entry with comments.

The problem is that the users I wish to build the site for, require a full featured forum experience in each group, and the standard JomSocial "Discussions" is more like a blog entry with comments rather than a forum experience.

Is there a way to add an additional menu item in the Group page for the Kunena forum, keeping it separate for each group, and bringing in the Kunena module directly, without JomSocial templating? So essentially, to disable the 'Discussions' and instead, have a 'Forum' option, that simply shows the standard Kunena forum interface, such as we have right here, but for each group?

Hi, Pritam.

So I understand that link discussion will redirect to certain forum category in Kunena.
Yes, this could by done by customizing JomSocial template for groups. You'll need to add some php conditions so link will be different for different groups. This will be an easy customization ;)
