My Client has been using Jomsocial 2.6.2 on his old website for a while now but wants me to create a new fresh up to date one with the new Jomsocial. He has a lot of users and data in the old installation, would if be possible to transfer all data to the new installation? If so how?

Upgrading from 2.6.3 is possible but you have to do staged upgrades. You must go up each version at a time, then once you get to 2.8.4 then the ijoomla installer will do it for you.

OK cool but say I I was designing a totally new website seperate from the current one for my client would I be able to transfer their data from the old site to the new one?

You would need to bring the old site up to the same version then there would probably be no reason that you couldn't copy the community tables across. There are also some 3rd party components that are able to do joomla migratrion that i have heard work ok but i have not used them myself extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migrati...ion/joomla-migration

How you do it is also dependent on what you have on the site, If anything is integrated and if any files have been modified
