What is the backend "Member List" feature?

Hello,
I noticed there is a feature in JomSocial called "Member List" and how does it work? I have looked all over wiki and did not find info about it.
Reason i am asking about it is because i am wondering if it is possible to filter JomSocial members based on custom profile fields and be able to print the list or export it in a sort of simple table or chart from backend. Or perhaps it is possible to achieve this using some 3rd party extension of plugin from frontend?
Thank you.

Hi AzMandius, Thanks for your inquiry,

The Member list is in the administrator section and you can search / filter and export the list to CSV. You could get a developer to possibly write a plugin that would allow you to do this front end

Is there a FAQ section where i can learn how to create member lists from backend or frontend?

I also was wondering if there is a tool or software that would let me view CSV files content as a sort of simple table?

Thanks a lot.

Hi AzMandius,

Thanks for replying.
I'm not sure if you are aware of a service we have called instant Jomsocial. You can be up and running in less than a minute and then you can try out Jomsocial as your own. Please have a look here and let me know how you get on

instant.jomsocial.com

You could use any application like Excel or google docs to view the CSV file and i think there is also extensions here that will let you view it in your site extensions.joomla.org/search?q=csv+viewer

I hope this helps and let me know how you go with instant Jomsocial, it's a great new service.

Thank you a lot Paul for your assistance. I have tried the service called instant JomSocial, it gave me a very clear view on all my questions.

I have understood that by default there is no way to export a CSV file from saved search filters, from Member List: index.php?option=com_community&view=memberlist
Looks like it is possible to export a CSV file, from backend, of only regular JomSocial Users list: index.php?option=com_community&view=users

Is that correct?

Thank again.

Hi,

I'm very sorry for the late reply I'm not sure how I missed your reply. You are correct you can only export to a csv from the administrator section
