I am still confused about the difference between jomsocial and easyblog?
Many sites seem to be using both. What is the advantage to using jomsocial together with easyblog?

Quick answer :

Jomsocial is Social Network for Joomla, like Facebook
Easyblog is Blogging system for Joomla, like Wordpress

You can mix jomsocial and easyblog together, so you will have social network plus blogging system then.
