I am looking to integrate community features as part of client websites, and currently exploring available CMS community options.
I am considering a Developer license but wanted to get some clarification on what the license permits in the following cases:
1) If I incorporate the Jomsocial platform (with an active license) into a website that I own, would I be able to charge a client(s) a usage subscription fee under the license I purchase? Are there any license considerations to be aware of?
2) If I choose to sell the above website (with Jomsocial installed with an active license) to a client, would the Jomsocial license need to be transferred as well, and are there any additional license considerations?
I read the license agreement, but I'm not 100% clear on what is meant by the proprietary use license portion, which specifies that software elements (images, stylesheets, etc) cannot be distributed without prior consent. What does this mean in the context of my intended applications above?
1. Yes. Many uses subscription plans on sites and charge users (clients) for using community. No additional consideration.
2. If you sell that site you should also pass access data to new owner. Then account should be updated with new user name.
"license portion, which specifies that software elements (images, stylesheets, etc) cannot be distributed without prior consent" means that you can sell images, stylesheets or part of code separately as your own.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
