I am considering purchasing JomSocial. One feature I would like to offer to the community is the ability to keep a journal similar to this site, www.trailjournals.com/ Is this a feature available or do you know of a third part add-on which would provide this feature?

I am sorry that feature is not availlable on Jomsocial core system, also I never heard the 3rd party for this, I suggest you try search it from the Joomla extension directory here extensions.joomla.org/ or your create the similiar extension by hiring the 3rd party dev from here www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers

Did you look into Publisher? You can let authors submit articles, also integration with JomSocial coming soon.
