Hi, I have tried out the demo and realised that the following features are not available. As I need these features for my community, I would like to find out whether the change request will be supported. I believe it will be a good enhancement for JomSocial as well.
My idea is to offer membership to my advertisers who will be allowed to post announcement and photo on the group.
1) I would like the public to view all the content but unable to upload photos to the group albums.
2) For the home and group "recent activities", I only want the uploaded information to be seen. I don't need the "like" photo status to flood the activity page.
Can I be done via JomSocial support or do I need to source to developer?
1. This can be done without any customization. Try it here:

You are not logged in (so you're in Public Joomla! group) and still can see photos, but can't upload them. All here depends on your configuration.
2. This can by done by help of a developer as it's not a minor customization.

1. I noted that the group has to be set as public. For public setting, users can join the group without any approval. And there will be able to create album after joining. What I wanted is that I will only allow my advertisers to post their news in the group. I want all others to see but not able to post in the group at all.

So you want to have public group (to display photo albums) but you want to that user join group after approval (so group is private) - this is antinomy :) In your community there will be advertisers and other users? And everybody could register? Maybe better ideas is to limit registration only to advertisers? So only them could perform uploading actions. The rest (Public) could only browse content...
