Can jomsocial do this?

Hi

I have a website with cb. It has a few specific things that I've had to muck around a bit to do in cb, but it works ok with the addition of a couple of third party add ons. I have a new client who wants similar functionality, and I like the layout and workflows in jomsocial better than cb. I don't want to go and invest a lot of time in jomsocial again to get it working if I can help it.

With the new client, users registered to the site (members) could be at regional or local club level, or both, with special interest groups spread most likely at regional level but possibly at local club level. Jomsocial should cope with that ok- that's the easy part :-)

Members will have a number of attributes, some of which jomsocial has already like education, role within organisation, and probably access group within the joomla cms. The idea is that going forward membership details will be managed online, rather than through the various databases and spreadsheets they currently have.

The tricky questions
1: we would need some way of importing data into jomsocial. I use a component for cb to do this basically importing a csv file into both the cb tables and the joomla user table. Is there a function to do this? We would also need a similar way of bulk updating data for eg import a list of members who have paid their subs for this year, and update the relevant fields

2: some members would need the ability to view and update other members details. For example a local club membership officer might manage their own members, but crucially not be able to manage or see other members on the database

3: members should be able to see all the details the database stores about them, but not be able to edit all the details. For example a field that states they are a member until the end of 2014, should only be editable by someone like the membership officer

4: reports should be able to be generated containing a list of members for each local club eg a contact list for that specific club, again based on the club membership of the local membership officer ( ie the report is filtered on all members that belong to the club that the local membership officer belongs to)

5: a master report of all members should be available but only to the regional membership officer. They should be able to edit details on any of those members in the list.

A bit of a list but can jomsocial do any or all of that? I think a lot of what I've done in terms of access levels on the joomla side on my cb site should translate into the above, so it is more from the functionality and ease of setting it all up that I'm interested in

Cheers and thanks in advance

Hi, Andrew Gabites.

1. This should help with importing data: www.jomsocial.com/addons/applications/jo...l-user-import-export

2. Unfortunately JomScoial does not full supports ACL yet. We working on it... as for now probably this extension could help you: www.jomsocial.com/addons/memberships/jom...p-and-access-control (ask its developer for further details)

3. No built-in option for this in present JomSocial version. Above extension (from question no. 2) could help you probably with this.

4. No built-in option in current JomSocial version. This could be helpful: www.joomlathat.com/content-statistics/ex...istics-for-jomsocial (ask its developer for further details)

5. Above extension (from question no. 2) could help you probably with this.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
