Hi,
We are looking for user levels in our site as follows:
Admin- Manage everything.
Moderator(s)- manage only content and users (not configuration options, applications and tools options in the admin menu)

Is this possible in jomsocial?

Thanks,
Jay

Hi, Jay.

As for now JomSocial does not fully support Joomla! ACL. So it is impossible to set limited rights in backend for JomSocial component, based on user groups.

Nevertheless JomSocial respects limitations for Manager (managers does not have access to modules, plugins and some components also with JomSocial). So user with this rights could manage all content including frontend moderation of activity streams and be able to view private groups contents and activities. Manager could have access to user accounts in Joomla! (needs change in ACL rights) so users account can be moderated in some way.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi Michal,
Thanks. So what you are saying is as an admin, I will be able to create a profile/role as Manager and assign users to it. Thease users will be able to manage all content including frontend moderation of activity streams and be able to view private groups contents and activities.
They will not have access to modules, plugins and some components. Is this correct?

Now, how will I create the manager role? I was checking the admin options in the demo; but couldnt find an option. Please help.

Hi, Jay.

Yes, you are correct. Manager is a Joomla! predefined group with predefined ACL (in some cases you could change it e.g for moderating users in backend). The only access to modules is in backend - in predefined ACL managers doesn't have access to them.

You don't have to create it. It is in Joomla! out of the box. Just assign user to that group. User can be assigned to more than one group. Users -> Users manager Just edit user, scroll down (or click tab Assigned User Group in J! 3.2) and check Manager group. That's it :)
