I have a question with regards to the email functionality of JomSocial. Group admins can send an email out to all members of the group from the front end, is it possible to allow all members of a group to send an email out to all users of the group?

For me I didn't check that point when installing JomSocial, I thought it was naturally in.
As it is a normal function for a group to be able to send messages to other members of that group directly (if not, the notion of a group is not that much interesting).
I will have to see I can overcome that, if not I should be obliged to look for another tool.

Sending mass mailing to whole group by anyone from the group is not possible. Only admins can do it. If you post in a group, others can see it. It's about not giving possible spammers a tool they can use to make JS groups unusable.

Thanks for your reply. It's a shame this can't be offered as an option for Group messaging, as @yves says it renders the groups option pointless if there is no Group messaging. Could this be a feature request please?

Sorry but I don't see how it renders groups useless. If you post a status update in a group, everyone will get it. You could suggest allowing everyone in group to be able to send mass mailing to everyone in the group but to be honest I don't think this will make it into JomSocial because of the reason given in my previous post. I'd suggest contacting 3rd party devs like: jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers and asking them to modify JS to work in such way. Will definitely be faster so if you're on a tight schedule it's something to consider.
