Is there such thing as having your featured images and videos also show on front page along side articles?

you can using jomsocial photos module and jomsocial videos module.
for make duplication, you can click New button from joomla module manager, after that assign that modules onto sidebar-2 position.
but for photos module there is no featured setting, only videos.

So are you saying that the jomsocial photos module and jomsocial videos module will do the featured but if you use the duplication from the modules in the back end there is no featured to show on front end for images?

for make more clear. please goto jomsocial photos module and jomsocial videos module.
compare the settings on both modules. as you can see only videos module having the "featured". so photos module not able to displaying featured photo only.

this is not related with duplication.
