Hi Albertus, it is the only site on a dedicated server - 4x500GB HDD !
Here is what the host said ...
"I have carefully investigated the case as I double checked the PHP configuration and settings. The PHP configuration indeed allows upload of files up to 8GB's in size. However even as I checked several articles regarding such issues the upload feature still generates an Unknown Exception error. I think the issue is generated by the upload script it self."
even in GB video size can be uploaded.
uploading > 1 GB video it will make your server crash during converting process. it can took more than 1 hour process.
its not recommended to do that. if you insist todo that. I will help you to tackle this upload issue.
but if there is big issue after that (your server crash during converting process) I cant help you with that.
I think for now I will take down the upload feature. Clearly something is not happy with your software, and this site doesn't depend on the upload feature.
FYI - I already have a site built with drupal that is successfully taking large uploads, saving to S3 and transcoding using Zencoder - uploads of 6GB and in some cases, 45GB and more ! I was exploring the capability of JomSocial to replace this site.
