I disabled ModSecurity, reset the cron.php file to default, and ran the cron job again. It works now without any issues. Do you know what ModSecurity rule is causing this issue so that I can disable it?
I dont know about that. because the configuration is too complex. only server owner know about it.
please asking your server support about more detail.
I have additional information for you after working with my server company. It appears to not be related to ModSecurity but instead that the cron script was simply timing out. With the cron.php file set as default, it was taking over 2.5 minutes for it to complete, after Apache settings were adjusted. However, when I comment out "$this->_createIndexFile(JPATH_ROOT . '/images');", the cron job completes in approximately 2 seconds.
What effect is commenting out "$this->_createIndexFile(JPATH_ROOT . '/images');" going to have on my site? What does that line of code do in any case?
createIndexFile function is to create index file in all the folders to prevent being hack.
thats why we put some process at cronjob task, because some process need more time to be completed.
my suggestion, please put cronjob process at least every 5 minutes or more.
Let me rephrase my question, as it may not have been clear. Will the time it takes to run the index process continue to increase -how long it takes to complete- as more items are added?
adding index wont take too long on your cron process, technically just checking all folders on your server and adding index.htm if your site already hacked. Different with sending mailq, covert video, transfer file to amazon, those functions take more time to be processed.
