What I mean is, the video category will show in description area because I'm planning is to place it beside the uploader's name.

You'll need to write additional query to database to display category name as variable $video contains only category ID ($video->category_id). So that's only number. But having this number you may "ask"database for category name.

You should be interested in this file:

ROOT/components/com_community/templates/jomsocial/layouts/videos/list.php

But of course don't edit it in core file system but do an override: documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Customizing_Template

Video categories names are stored in _community_videos_category
