So since there will be no resolution to the youtube links playing correctly in the html 5 player as seen in the following link: github.com/johndyer/mediaelement/issues/407 is from 2012. This makes youtube sharing useless since it has way to many issues on phones, tablets and desktops to play.

Is there a way to use the native youtube player instead of the html 5 player from jomsocial? Otherwise I will have to dissallow youtube on the site all together.

This is a plugin issue when running in Flash-mode runtime (Youtube), as described by the plugin creator himself here: johndyer/mediaelement: #407

It's not happening when playing an uploaded video (volume slider works fine). These example links below i took from project's site:

Native video: mediaelementjs.com/examples/?name=backlight
Youtube video: mediaelementjs.com/examples/?name=youtube

Changed all the files it still does the same thing.

The issue depending on the browser is always slightly different but they all have issues. I made a video below to show what I'm experiencing below.

www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sCNknZjLneo

My main computer is:

Windows Version: 8.1 64bit
Sli 980ti EVGA FTW ACX
32GB Corsair Dominator 1866
Samsung 850 Pro 500GB
Asus Rog Extreme VI
4790k i7 extreme

Google Chrome Version 40.0.2214.94m
I can play the video, skip forward, pause, raise and lower volume in window mode. In full screen can go back but not forward, can't close full screen without pressing esc key, can not raise or lower volume only mute, if I move away from the controls and they hide I can't get them back.

IE 11.0.9600.17498 Update Version: 11.0.15
Controls only appear after you move away from it and let it come back. Can not click on anything or stop the video.

Firefox: 35.0.1
Crashes, when it doesn't crash I can use all the controls in window mode accept for the full screen button. If I double click on the window I can go into full screen but have no controls. I have to press esc to leave.

This also occures on my iphone, android, tables, mac and all other pc's win 7 - 10.

And in firefox now the video has become half the size and none of the buttons work.

If you can go to
www.ipawyou.com/videos2/936-chickenman/video/99-fox-go-floof

In IE, firefox and chrome and you the put them in full screen and see if you can interact with the time slider, volume or full screen after it disappears from being idle after a couple of seconds. You'll see it never comes back and on the browsers that it does come back you can't interact with it.

One thing I noticed is that in full screen you have to go all the way to the very bottom left most corner to get the bar to pop back up unlike the youtube standard player where you move the mouse and the player slider, audio and full screen pop up.

I went to jomsocial backend > videos > video settings but there is no option that says Video Player, Activity Stream or one that has the option to use native player.

This is what happens when I apply the changes. I put all of the individual files into the folder you mentioned in this new zip file. I copy them to the root of my ftp and if you look at the image site.jpg that is what happens to it once I've done so. Even after that happens I still don't see the option to change the video player.
