Set groups/events permissions for user uploads

ISSUE SUMMARY:
Is there a way to set the default for groups and events creation so that all members have permissions to upload photos/videos? Right now the person creating the group has to enable those preferences.

Hi Meagan,

for group you must create new override file:
copy groups.forms.php from [joomla site root]/components/com_community/templates/default/ to [joomla site root]/templates/bsmart2013/html/com_community/

edit it and find this code at line 126:

<input type="checkbox" name="photopermission-member" class="checkbox" id="photopermission-member" value="1" <?php echo ( $params->get('photopermission') == GROUP_PHOTO_PERMISSION_ALL ) ? ' checked="checked"' : '';?> disabled="disabled" />
changing it to
<input type="checkbox" name="photopermission-member" class="checkbox" id="photopermission-member" value="1" <?php echo ( $params->get('photopermission') == GROUP_PHOTO_PERMISSION_ALL || $isNew ) ? ' checked="checked"' : '';?> disabled="disabled" />

and find this code at line 166
<input type="checkbox" class="checkbox" name="videopermission-member" id="videopermission-member" value="0" <?php echo ($params->get('videopermission') == GROUP_VIDEO_PERMISSION_ALL) ? ' checked="checked"' : '';?> disabled="disabled" />
changing it to
<input type="checkbox" class="checkbox" name="videopermission-member" id="videopermission-member" value="0" <?php echo ($params->get('videopermission') == GROUP_VIDEO_PERMISSION_ALL || $isNew) ? ' checked="checked"' : '';?> disabled="disabled" />

and for event, can you elaborate more? because can not upload videos/photos there

Hi Albertus,

This worked well, thank you. There is no issue with events, I was mistaken. I do have one last question - I would like to enable the group discussion file sharing by default as well. I know the following line of code from the same file needs to be edited, I'm just not sure what variable to change.

<input type="checkbox" class="checkbox" name="groupdiscussionfilesharing" id="groupdiscussionfilesharing" value="1" <?php echo ( $params->get('groupdiscussionfilesharing') >= 1 ) ? ' checked="checked"' : '';?> />

you must put:

$isNew
as OR condition, so that code will be like this:
<input type="checkbox" class="joms-checkbox" name="groupdiscussionfilesharing" value="1" <?php echo ($params->get('groupdiscussionfilesharing') >= 1 || $isNew) ? ' checked="checked"' : ''; ?>>
