Trying to share Private Vimeo video

ISSUE SUMMARY:

I have been working on a site for a while, and was able to add private Vimeo videos no problem about 2 monthes ago. I went and tried to add one today after editing the same Viemo settings, and seem to keep getting "Failed to Fetch Video" error. I checked my settings in Viemo and they appear to be the same as the videos i was able to about 2 months ago.

I have set the video to hide on Vimeo, and set to allow the video to be embed on the domain i am using.

I am able to share a vimeo video that is NOT private at the moment, and i can add any video from you tube. It must be a private issue. I don't understand how i was able to add them before using the same private settings and now can't. If you login to members area, you can see where i added a few a few months ago and they are still able to be played through JomSocial site.

I have attached a screen shot of the error and one of the current vimeo settings i am using.

Hi, Brent.

I've checked URL that is shown on your printscreen: vimeo.com/108582051
When I try access it I get: prntscr.com/6lhtgw
When I try to use FB debug tool: developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...imeo.com%2F108582051
I get: "Error parsing input URL, no data was cached, or no data was scraped."

Our fetching feature works the same way: if video can't be reached just like robots or user do - it can't fetched.

I don't know why some time ago you was able to fetch it.... maybe settings was different, maybe there was something on Vime was changed. For sure our fetch engine was the same.

So if user can't view video on Vimeo, robots/fetcher also can't.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.

Thank you for your reply.

The video is set to private as we don't want anyone to see it unless they are on the site: www.yourmusicexperience.com/ .

I added permissions to allow the video to be embed (domain level allowance) to www.yourmusicexperience.com/ .

So, it seems like it should be visible there. I am able to add/link/embed the video to a regular page on www.yourmusicexperience.com/ and it plays fine.

So, I understand how you can't view or fetch from any other site. But should work of that domain. Any ideas? Thanks again for your help.

Hi, Brent.

There is a difference between "embed on site" and "fetch via URL". Robot see what any other web user could see. If video is private and locked for web users... then it can't be fetched. Videos in JomSocial are fetched not embed.
