Audio files instead of video files for a podcast site

JomSocial Expired

Would it be possible to alter the videos functionality by editing the helper/video.php file and replacing audio formats accepted instead of video files accepted? I want to change the jomsocial 'groups' into 'podcasts' and allow users to post their audio podcasts within the groups using the current video functionality (then just change the language in jomsocial language file to 'podcasts' instead of 'video').

Is this just as simple as changing the mimeType array:

$mimeType= array(
'audio/mpeg',

and if so, does anyone know what to enter to accept soundcloud url's (similar to ability to currently accept youtube urls)?

thanks

Hi jholstein,

All things are possible if you know the way how to do that :) change our video helper and all of our video code are very risky unless you are expert programmer on joomla and jomsocial :)

As this request is pretty much a customization, and the scope of our support doesn't cover custom coding, code modifications or training in such, please consult to our Desk developers for such assistance Jomsocial Developer :)

Warm Regards,

David

Hi, JHolstein.

We have not received any response back from you in over 7 days, and would like to know if you consider this issue to be resolved. If you have any further questions, simply reply to this post.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
