Phot uploading fails without error message

When uploading photos nothing happens; I don't even get an error message. I have been able one time to upload an avatar, but am now unable to even change the avatar. I can create an album, but even then I am unable to upload a photo.

Hi Idso,
As I am seeing some javascript conflicting issue there which causing with current template.
I have installed another template (t3_blank) and make English as default language and checking with the upload issue.
It is working fine with it.
Since the site is live, I have again back with previous settings.
So my suggestion is to contact with the template provider and fix the issue.

Thanks. The template is made via Artisteer. Can you explain what needs to be changed for it to work properly ?

I tried it with the T3 template, but even then I can not upload any photos. Is it a language related problem ?

I have not just changed the language as english to default and existing template and now it is working fine also.
Yeah you are right, it seems the problem is with the Dutch language.
Can you uninstall the language and again install from
www.jomsocial.com/addons/languages/dutch
www.transifex.com/projects/p/jomsocial/language/nl/

I have changed the language to English default an now I can upload a photo in the status message. However, uploading a photo in an album does not work.
I have re-installed the language file from www.jomsocial.com/addons/languages/dutch but that does not change anything.

Ok, I assigned all the Jomsocial toolbar items to the English template and language and it seems to work more or less. I will investigate some more before I close the ticket.

Well, after a lot of troubleshooting and experimenting I have come to the conclusion that Jomsocial is absolutely not suitable for a multi language website. A single language, even non-english, seems to work, but as soon as you want to switch between languages all uploads and changes fail. It is not a template problem, as the same template is used for all languages. Very disappointing and I am sorry that I wasted my money on this product.

Hi Idso,
I have created an album at your site and uploaded image with default image selected.
It is working fine for me.
Then I have switched to danish language and disable "SEO friendly url", and "URL rewriting" from
admin panel > site > global configuration > site
and then again upload image from album.
It is working fine too.
So it seems the problem with .htaccess and mod rewrite.
Can you contact with hosting server by asking such issue please.

Thanks for the help. I willl certainly contact my provider. However, I have many websites with them and use SEO en friendly URL's all the time and all components that i use work with it, except for Jomsocial. So what do you think that they are going to answer when I tell them that their SEO works with all other components but not with Jomsocial.

Do you have any suggestion on what setting needs to be changed in . htaccess ?

Well, switching off friendly URL's en URL rewrite made it work in multi-language. Strange that the whole website works flawless with SEO settings turned on, except Jomsocial. Ofcourse Jomsocial claim that it is a setting at the provider, but the provider has everything configured correctly.
I am thoroughly disappointed in the support of Jomsocial. I pay €150 for a product that does not work with basic Joomla features, which work with all templates and all other components I have used, and then all support is able to say is that the provider has made an error.

Fix your own software before blaming someone elses product !!
