Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
I am currently using zencoder and Amazon for storing jomsocial videos. Is it possible for jomsocial or zencoder to auto-detect the appropriate orientation for videos and correct it? I do not see a way to manually change the orientation either. Is there a way to do this?
If you use Zencoder you should ask there :)
As for JomSocial, it uses FFMPG library to convert videos and don't check for orientation - if you want to change it, you'll need to do it before upload.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

As for photos in galleries - no. Under photo you should have buttons to rotate image. (see att.)
As for avatars, yes, you need to rotate them before you upload. Sometimes you could notice that photos just uploaded as avatar are rotated. It's because they ware made rotated and their position was saved into exif data. So they may look properly rotated and displayed in Windows but after upload they will be in original position (saved in exif data). So make sure that photo for avatar is properly rotated.
