I tried upload the avatar of different sizes but it still comes out blurred. I don't think it is designed to be a bit blurred right?

May i know you upload the avatar from profile page or from edit avatar page, also did you edit the thumbnails of your avatar ? And may i know the resolution of your avatar, please?

Your avatar dimension is too small, so the dimension will be forced with dimension from Jomsocial itself. I suggest you use the bigger avatar for this.
