How can i use the Video function without FFMPEG?

Hi guys,

my ISP dont offer the FFMPEG installation.
Before i need to change my ISP i want to ask you if its possible to use the Video function without the FFMPEG script.

Can i use Amazon S3 to encode the Video files in flv format?

I only have acces via FTP to my hosting package. I cannot intsall FFMPEG over the shell .

Hi, Michael.

No, you can't. No file will be converted without FFMPEG library.
And S3 storage offers only storage, no conversion.
So till you change hosting you'll be limited to videos hosted on external services like YouTube.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
