Make video only viewable for certain members?

Hi,

When I, as administrator of my social network, want to post an exclusive video, how do I go about this? I can see there are 4 options: public, Site Members, Friends, and Only Me. How exactly is "Site members" defined?
I was looking for a social network for my site that can differentiate between "free" and "paying" members and serve the 2 groups different content. I was under the impression this is possible with Jomsocial, but the more I work with the component, the more I realise maybe it is a bit limited after all.
Here's what I want: being a vocal coach, post videos on my website and thus create a bit of a social network. I would encourage users to sign up for a certain fee a month and in exchange they get access to certain exclusive content and to one-to-one coaching.
Any ideas?

Hi, Ascencao.

Site members are all registered members of community.
As for now there is no simple way to show video to certain user (there is no such option in administration panel).
But it can be done by customizing the code. But to do this you'll need to hire a JomSocial developer: www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers‎
Also you could make a feature request: uservoice.jomsocial.com/

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Ok thanks. That is disappointing. So am I right in thinking Jomsocial, as it is, doesn't make use of Joomla's ACL capabilities? Not sure if Jomsocial is usable for my project if that is the case.

Hi, Ascencao.

We're sorry to disappoint you, but yes, at the moment JomSocial doesn't fully support ACL (moderators and admins have edit rights). But to be honest, sharing things e.g articles for one specific user is not a handy thing in Joomla! either and can't be done with one click.
