When a user tries to switch the profile types which are "company account" and "guest account" in my website, and then fills out all the necessary fields. After saving the changes the fields having text in them removes the spaces and commas in the text which makes it look unformatted.

I cant login to your site backend. please make sure you are using jomsocial latest version

and that user must re-edit the profile again.

My website has been modified by a developer. I have introduced new modules which does not belong to jomsocial. Will updating to the latest version remove all those modules are created by a programmer?

module is a part of joomla extensions. when you upgrading jomsocial, that all modules will stay.
please backup your site by using Akeeba Backup first. so if any issue you can easly revert it.

in what why do you made the changes? do you changes any jomsocial core files? if yes, which location?
if the changes by using overrides, by creating new files under site template. it will not disappear at upgrade process.

FYI:
jomsocial not recomend for any core file chenges. because customer must re-do the changes again after jomsocial upgrade.
jomsocial upgrade needed for bug fixes.
