When a private message is received, both the notification and mail icons are highlighted, whereas I only want the message icon to show that a message has been received. I have followed the instructions in another post to ensure that, under Configuration / Privacy, the Notification box is unticked for New Private Messages. I have then Saved the new configuration and "Reset existing user;s notification settings. I have also checked in my profile that the New Private Messages in not ticked for Notifications.

Despite all the above, the recipient of a new private message still receives a notification as well as a new message advice.

Can you please help?

please check it, you need to uncheck Email and Notification checkbox.
I just mada a test again, and it works like expected :)

Sorry but it is still not working as I want it to. When a message is received, there is a "1" against both the mail and notification icons in the header whereas I only want a "1" against the mail icon. Please see attached screen shot.

please provide me FTP access detail.
I need to have a look into the code. not sure why I cant replicate this issue at my test site.
might be 3rd party conflict issue.

Hi,

please check it, not sure why /jupgrade/components/com_community/models/notification.php has been modified at 22nd Sep
to tackle this issue I renamed it to notification-old.php and upload the original one.
