Greetings Pro's
I am still having issues with getting specific modules to appear on the pages that I want them on. I have addresses this issue in the past and still have not received a solution that I can use over and over. For example, I have one module named "MT Point Leaders" and I would like to place this module on the JomSocial "Members" page and all it's children. I have tried every single combination anyone could think of from the Module Manager back-end under the Module Assignment tab. Nothing seems to work. Unless I am wrong, this Module assignment tab is supposed to allow me to select where I want a specific module to appear on my site. This should work, but it is not working.
This is now an issue for me as I would like to have specific modules appearing on specific pages and I can't do that. If you fix this on your own, great, it will work, but, I have several other modules that I would like to create and place on specific pages, so unless you want me to contact you with a new issue for each of these, please explain why this is not working the way it is supposed to work. If we can get this to work as intended, I would like to place a module on the following pages with their children.
Pages
Profile
Fans
Members
Groups
Photo's
Video's
I don't yet have the modules built for these pages, but I do that the MT Point Leaders Module built and would like it to show up on the Member's page and all of that menu's children pages as well in the left hand zone or (Sidebar1). Please explain how this is supposed to work so I can do this as needed.
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
We have own rules for this, actually related with jomsocial toolbar behavior..Please you read this documentation first
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Toolbar_Explained
to undertand it better.
thank you!
Dimas,
Thank you kindly for sharing this with me. I think, and I mean, I THINK, this is exactly what I need to do. I will close this thread and work through this, but please don't be upset if I have more questions on this topic. I realize I ask a ton of questions, but I am getting better at this thanks to all of you.
Thanks,
David
Dimas,
I have read the article you sent me 3 times and in all honesty, I don't get it. Number one, the history is really unimportant to me. I don't really care why it has evolved the way it has. Secondly, the "Best Practices" part of this article is really all that we need to know and I don't understand it either. Under Menu Type, I can't even find a "jomsocialentrypages" item to select I am sorry.
I don't see some of the fields that are listed in the picture you attached with this article and can only assume this article is old and my version does not contain some of these fields. I am sorry and I am not trying to make your life difficult, I just don't see it or get it.
I can however tell you a way to make this very simple for me if you don't mind. Again, if you don't mind, please go into my site and create this new set-up that this article explains for me and add the "MT Point Leaders" module to this one new page and I would like it to appear only on the JomSocial Toolbar under the "Members" item and all it's children below it if that easier. If it's easier to have it on just the "Members" menu page, that's fine. Once I see it configured and can copy it myself, this will make it much easier for me.
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
I already gave you the solution and set it up on your site, i did the tricks by created new menu members, and then assigned the module on that new members, so that new members is not inside jomsoical toolbar parent. And it works.
Dimas,
Thank you and I see what you did in adding the members menu to the main menu item. I know see how this will work. Is there any chance you will be changing the JomSocial menu bar in the near future to work more like the main menu bar as this still is not going to work for me. I do thank you for doing this and I will close this thread.
Have a great day and thanks again for your help,
David
