Private messaging only to friends

ISSUE SUMMARY:
There doesn't seem to be any option to limit private messaging only to friends. As of now, anyone can send message to anyone which is very impractical and just wrong.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Login to site
2 Go to a user profile
3 Click on 'Send Message' button

RESULT
Anyone can send message to any user

EXPECTED RESULT
Only friends should be able to message each other.

Hi.

This is not an issue but rather customization.
By default in community everyone is able to send PM to other community member.
Nevertheless what you want could be achieved.

Copy this file:

ROOT/components/com_community/templates/jomsocial/layouts/profile/focus.php

to:

ROOT/templates/your-template/html/com_community/layouts/profile (if you don't have those folders - feel free to create them)

Then edit file in line 181.
Replace this:

<?php if ($config->get('enablepm')) { ?>

with this:
<?php if (($config->get('enablepm')) AND ($isFriend) ) { ?>

From now on, only friends will be able to see PM button and send PMs.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Thanks but what happens when I upgrade JomSocial? I believe I need to re-apply this code.

And wouldn't it be simpler if you had an option in settings to send only to friends or all. That way code level customization wouldn't be needed and upgrades won't break it.
