Hi,
when a user receives a message he gets 2 notifications.
Once as a global alert and once as a message.
Is it possible that he receive the notification message only.

Hi,

you can do it at:
jomsocial backend > configuration > privacy, disable it from Default User Email & Notifications, click save, and scroll to bottom, and click reset existing user notification.
