I disabled all User Points activities under Configuration > User Points but User points still show up on the front end -- how do I completely disable User / Karma points?

Hi,

That user points configuration is not for showing/not showing the karma on frontpage, but that is the rule for getting the points configuration.

If you wanna remove the karma on profile page you can edit this jomsocial configuration -> layout -> set "Enable Badges" to No
