Geolocation on the database?

ISSUE SUMMARY:

Hi,
I'm building a modification and I want to update the geolocation via an APP.
Can you tell me where Jomsocial stores that info?

I meant the geolocation info it grabs from my browser not the address the user can enter in the profile

Geolocation grabbed by browser is not stored anywhere but in browser in current session.
This is related with browser - not with JomSocial.
JS stores only data provided by users in the system.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi,
I meant where is recorded the geolocation of the user?
Sometimes when I enter into my site I click on "Share my location" Where's that stored?
I want to use it to display the users near the user

If you mean when share location on sharebox, its stored inside this table #__community_activities field 'latitude' and 'longitude'

Those two are the only places where JS stores the user coordinates?

Location detected by browser is stored only in case you save it in post. Just like Dimas mentioned.
Geo data created from user street, city and so one is stored here: _community_location_cache

Hi, what about if the user doesn't enter the adress?

I'm hiring someone to make a plugin that:
" automatically geolocated via HTML5 Geolocation (or the most accurate method you can find if you have a better one) and the information is stored inside Jomsocial table as the new location of the user.
Locations are retrieved each 15minutes and each time the user logins."

I want to know the right table to store the info, if it's possible overwrite the current JS lat and long information so I can display the nearest users to my user and related stuff.


It's off that with so many geo location plugins and stuff available this doesn't exist.

that nearby geolocation should be hackend, we cant help you to achive this sorry..

well, you can put the lat and lang to this table #__community_users, put on fields "latitude" and "longitude"
