ISSUE SUMMARY:
I developed a simple script that queries new messages and friend requests and shows alerts site-wide (very similar to the JS Jomsocial Notification module). I disabled the default toolbar, but notifications on the <title> appear for wall posts. Deciding to add this as a alert as well, SQL queries for new wall posts has me chasing my tail, since nothing seems present in community_activities nor community_notifications (status is 0 for viewed and non-viewed wall posts). Any help for getting the value that Jomsocial retrieves to put in the title meta tag is very much appreciated.

Thank you for replying. I am looking for something that will query profile wall notifications. However status seems to equal 0 if viewed or not viewed. I'm missing something...

Example query:
select count(id) as wall_notification FROM community_notifications where `status` ='1' and `target` =' ='$myuserid''

I am trying to show for example, "Inbox (2) Friend Requests (4) Wall Activity (3)" like the screenshot

Let me clarify first.

actually we have 3 kinds notifications :
1. global notif : the notif will reset to empty once you click the notif / see the notif
2. new friends notif : the notif will be removed once you take the action for friend request
3. new friend notif : the notif will be removed once you read the message

so what do you want to do? please dont explain with code / query :) until I understand your issue very well

please you follow the code from mod_notify for how to do it, we cant help you too much.. if you very good with PHP code,i think some pointers code from mod_notify is enough
