Announcements Module hides items in mobile view

When browsing on a mobile device like a phone, the announcement module hides it's items when held vertically/portrait. When held landscape/horizontally, the items are show. This happens also when opening the announcement item where the information is only shown when held horizontally/landscape. Attached are a few screenshots of what I mean.

Is this normal because of the smaller screen? If so, is there a way to have it display no matter the orientation?
