ISSUE SUMMARY:
Greetings Pro's,
I am having an issue with setting a modules Menu Assignement. I have this one module named, "Win A Free Miami Dolphins Autographed Jersey" and when you go into the back-end, Module Manager and then Menu assignement, you will notice that I have this set-up to be diplayed, "Only on Pages Selected" and the only page that is solected is "Main Menu" -> "Home". However, this module is showing up on the pages that are in my JomSocial menu bar as well. I don't whant this to happen. I would like this to be displayed on just my index or home page the people see when they visit land on www.madd-talent.com . Can you please tell me what it is that I don't have set up just right?

Thanks,

David

Hi, David.

It's because your Home menu item is home JomSocial menu item. All JomSocial pages doesn't have OWN menu item ID (even if they are created as menu items in JomSocial toolbar) but they INHERIT menu item ID from parent menu item... that is JomSocial home menu item.

So yes, if you assign something like you did - it will be visible on ALL JomSocial pages.

But you can easily solve this.

Install this extension: extensions.joomla.org/extension/advanced-module-manager

It will create additional tab in module configuration called "Tasks". You could use it to display this module on certain URL only or - even better - to display it on home page ONLY.

Just play with it ;) Itś great extension, I use it all the time.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Michal,
I am sure this will work, as you are always right, but I need some time to do this. Last time I did something beyone my mechanical engineering background on my site, I cause a huge problem and had to pay to have my site reloaded to an earlier versioon and lost a week's worht of work. Before I play around with anything furhter than the easy stuff I am doing, I need to go to my C-Panel and schedule this back-up so I can do it myself when I mess up and if you have noticed, I mess up a lot.

Thanks,

David
