JomSocial Active

Hi Michal,

Thanks for your help so far, it gave me a better understanding of the situation & of the role of the redirect plugin. I'll try to recap my original question now, which consisted of two sub questions:

1. When someone follows an url to a restricted page, he gets redirected to a login page. After loggin in, on a Joomla site with only core functionality, he'll get redirected to the requested url. In our situation this is not possible due to the redirect plugin; the user will be redirected to a set page, for example the Home page. Replacing the plugin by a different solution might be quite involved, so we must decide how important this feature is to us.

2. If, in the scenario as described above, the user has IE 11, he will not be able to see the url that he requested before he was logged in. Somehow there's an IE 11 specific issue that makes that the user will be redirected to the login module again, only for this url.

I would say that the second part is, after all, an issue with the combination of the redirect plugin and IE 11. I hope that you are willing to investigate and, if possible, solve it. As it does seriously limit the use of this plugin in a real world situation.

Kind regards, Frits

Hi, Frits.

JomSocial redirect plugin has two purposes:

1. To redirect after log in and out
2. To override any register attempt and direct to JomSocial register form (instead of Joomla! default one).

So it seems that you don't need (and it may cause issues for IE) feature no 1.
As for registration override it could be simply done using htaccess redirection rules.

So you may keep plugin disabled and still have registration redirection.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
