Problem With Protected Content -MembershipPro and jomSocial
HI, we are having a problem on our site. We have installed the MembershipPro component to our JomSocial 3 web site to process membership transactions.
However I am finding that users, including myself, are not getting access to certain parts of the site even though they have paid the membership fee.
For example I can't view the Forums on the site. Nor can I view videos, events or other JomSocial menu items.
The site is at
www.youmustlovedogsdating.com
. I can get you super admin access if you email me. The site is live now and people are leaving because of this. Can you please help?
I logged in as one of your users. And I can browse to e.g Video page... but in about 3 seconds I'm redirected to:
www.your-domain.com/index.php/subscriptions
JomSocial doesn't redirect to this page... and this isn't JomSocial page.
It's rather MembershipPro page and this extension do redirection.
This isn't issue within JomSocial. Please contact with MembershipPro developers.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Youe see, JomSocial doesn't redirect you suddenly to pages that aren't even part of JomSocial.
This redirection is done in purpose... and JomSocial doesn't have purpose to redirect user to MembershipPro pages.
The only extension that could do that... is MembershipPro.
I think that there is a kind f mechanism in MembershipPro that allows that and do redirection. So it's probably misconfiguration.
But we can't solve it...
Yes, it may be caused by ACL. I can see that you're using ACL for 3 groups: public, guest and registered.
You can remove Registered access from any items in JomSocial toolbar as it doesn't have any effect (access rights are applied by menu item ID and those menu items inherit menu item ID from parent element - that is JomSocial home menu item min main menu).
Try to change access for "Sign up"menu item in Main menu from Guest to Public... and give it a try... if this won't work... then it's up to MembershipPro to find why user is constantly redirected to their component.

We have just found the issue. The person who started the site, for whatever reason, had a custom module that had a refresh meta tag which landed on the subscriptions overview page.
I can't think for the life of me why someone would do that. Because membershipPro has URL access controlled inherent in it's make up.
