Just noticed that after upgrade users are now being required to be activated by admin approval when the system is set to SELF. Please fix ASAP.

Will this fix the problem?

from
$user->set('block', '0');

to
$user->set('block', 'block * 0');

After testing, the above fix solves the user activation HOWEVER the notification email that is sent to the admin is still incorrect as it shows that it needs admin approval.

I think an override needs to be created. Can you confirm what override needs to be used?

The screenshot is in the original post above. It's the one that shows that the user needs to be approved by an admin when this is not the case.

to fix this issue, you need open this file components/com_community/controllers/register.php, find this :

if ($requireApproval || ($com_user_activation_type == 2 && (count($profileTypes) == 0) || !$config->get('profile_multiprofile')) ) {

if ($requireApproval || ($com_user_activation_type == 2 && (count($profileTypes) == 0 || !$config->get('profile_multiprofile')))) {

Confirmed that this resolved the issue.
