How do I go about adding a link to their profile in joomla articles?
Ideally I would like to add a box with profile information that is set by admin, but a simple, "Content Provided By : LINK TO PROFILE" would be a good start.
There is no such a extension to add it out-of-the box.
You could create it using Joomla! html module.
Or ask developer to create one for you:
www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
That strange, one of my presale questions was:
Will/can articles created by members, show author info and link to their profile?
jomsocial response
"It only will show by creator at the first time the article created"
I thought that meant, whoever creates the article would show in the article
Seems like this would be something important, to show who created a particular article.
How can this be done through the custom html module?
By default you can set to display author name in articles but it will not be linked with JomSocial profile.
You can do it in two ways:
1. Harder:
If you're familiar with php, sql and css you could customize template for articles (com_content) to fetch some additional data from data base in order to display Profile related information in article.
2. Easier:
You need to be a bit familiar with css and html. Just create html module, insert profile image taken from profile (insert just like any other ordinary photo), link it to profile, add any other text or object, style it with css. Assign module to position like my_author_1 and enter on the end of article {loadposition my_author_1} to load module into it.
